One of the things that we truly cherish with Bryson and his journey over the past year are the friends and relationships that have developed as a result of our paths crossing. The families of other heart children that we have gotten to know have helped us understand, cope and have just been there for us as pillars of support when we needed to lean on them. The families that we have spent time in the hospital with seem to become just an extension of our family as well. We would be just as anxious to get into the PICU and make sure things were going OK for them as well as our little Bryson.
When Bryson went in for his second surgery (The Glenn), Jeff and Brynn Homer were in the PICU with their newborn son Alex awaiting the first operation (The Norwood). We quickly were able to see how special the Homers were and how their amazing spirits would be such an example to us. As we spent time together in the hospital and being able to understand the roller coaster of emotions they were going through at that time, gave us the opportunity to start a great friendship.
On our way down to Delta yesterday we were able to stop by the Homer's house to say hi. It was great to see Brynn, Ryleigh and Alex. It was fun to see Alex and Bryson hang out together for a little bit. The two have so much in common and some day they will be able to talk about all of it together. We missed seeing Jeff as we stopped by during the middle of the work day so we will have it make it point to stop by again real soon. You can check out more about the cool Homer family, by clicking on Alex on the right side of the screen, under the heart buddies. We hope you enjoy the picture of Bryson and Alex as much as we do. Alex is getting ready for his second surgery next week, so we ask that as many prayers as possible be directed his way. We will certainly be thinking and praying for him and his family.
