Going Home

Well Sunday morning has brought us some good news. Bryson is doing well enough to go home! Three days of steroid treatment has allowed him to turn the corner with his breathing. He sounds a lot better and they are going to send us home with some more steroid medications and we will taper him off over the next few days. One other issue that they have been watching has been his heart rate. While he sleeps it is dipping down into the 60's, which is low for his age and normal baseline. His perfusion and stuff still looks to be ok! The regular doc's were going to run it by cardiology, but they do not seem to be too concerned.

Over the last week or so, we noticed Bryson getting more sweaty when he sleeps and when he gets better, if he is still sweating and having heart rate issues, we will schedule an appointment with cardiology and see if they will do an echo to tell us what is going on. His next surgery is not supposed to be until the 2-3 years old range, but that is not something set in stone either. We are glad to be going home and having adverted major problems by getting him in when we did. It is hard to know sometimes what to do when so much other stuff (croupe, cold, flu) can have so much affect on his heart condition. We are just waiting for his RSV shot and discharge orders before they will let us leave. That should give the sun enough time to come out and help get the roads in better shape.

You guys deserve so much more, if I can at least bring treats I know you'll like, maybe you'll keep me around as a friend... We hope that little man is feeling better. We also hope the weather warms up so these kids stop getting sick.. Or maybe just no more getting sick regardless of the weather...Brynn
