Well Bryson had a fairly good night, although his breathing continues to be a bit labored. He still makes strider sounds "wheezing" as he breathes although it not as fast. The steroids they have him on are seeming to do the job. Bryson is a bit stir crazy as he can't move around very much and there is no chance of taking him on a wagon ride because he is on precautions. That means that those that come into his room must wear a gown and mask to protect Bryson from having any bad germs brought into his room. Also a wagon ride or something outside of his room would expose Bryson to all the other sickness that roams these halls and we certainly don't want him to get anything to make his situation worse.
So the doctors want to watch him another night and if things continue to improve and he is not having to work as hard as he was to breathe, we should be able to take him home tomorrow with some oral steroids meds to continue to help him after we are home. His heart seems to be tolerating all of this ok, they do have him hook up to the cardiac monitor to make sure. We were originally scheduled to come down here on Monday for Bryson's RSV shot, and we are trying to get it coordinated that he can get his shot while we are here and avoid another trip down here.
So all is going well, we are thankful for the prayers and thoughts. These heart kids walk on a fine line and it does not take much to send them into a tailspin, but their bounce back capabilities never cease to amaze us.

I am a croup veteran and expert now. Isaac was hospitalized when he was five months old for croup and has had croup more than twenty times in the last five years. Do you have a nebulizer at home? If you can use one, put cold saline in it when croup strikes again and it will buy you time until you can get the oral steroids administered. I learned the trick from the paramedics, It works everytime for Isaac. I will keep Bryson in my prayers, in the meantime, try and get some needed rest if you can. Djinni
